Your wedding gown should be more than something beautiful to wear.
It should feel like an expression of who you are, how you want to feel, and the love you are celebrating.
At JM Couturière, I believe the most meaningful designs begin with the woman wearing them. Your inspirations, personal style, favorite details, and the feeling you hope to capture become the foundation for a gown that could belong to no one else.
As a couture bridal designer, patternmaker, and dressmaker, I guide you through a thoughtful, collaborative process, translating your vision into a design created specifically for you. From the first sketches and carefully selected fabrics to the final fitting, every decision is made with intention. You do not need to arrive with every detail figured out. You simply need a vision, a few inspirations, or even a feeling you want your gown to evoke. I'll help you discover the rest.
The result is not simply a dress that fits your measurements. It is a gown designed around your individuality, crafted with exceptional attention to detail, and made to become part of your story for years to come.
The artistry behind your gown
A custom gown is created from the inside out – with every detail considered.
A custom gown is created from the inside out.
The finished silhouette is only one part of the artistry. Behind it is the patternmaking, technical construction, fabric knowledge, fitting expertise, and careful handwork that allow a design to feel as beautiful as it looks. Because your gown is made for you from the start, there is no need to factor in additional alterations work.
This is the distinction of couture: a considered process in which the details work together to create something truly individual.
Materials chosen for your vision
I source fabrics from vetted vendors and select materials according to their texture, drape, structure, and finish. The right textile does more than look beautiful. It helps determine how your gown moves, fits, and comes to life.
a perfect Fit that is personal to you
Your gown is developed around your measurements and refined through fittings. Rather than asking you to fit into a predetermined design, we shape the garment to complement your proportions and the way you want to wear it.
careful Craftsmanship
Internal support, thoughtful construction, precise finishing, and carefully placed embellishments all contribute to the finished result. The techniques used will depend on your gown, with each element serving a purpose in the design.

Your personalized design proposal
Your vision begins to take shape through design sketches, fabric possibilities, and a detailed proposal outlining the intended design and anticipated investment. We'll consider silhouette, construction, materials, embellishments, and finishing details. A design may speak to you entirely or we can refine a little further until we reach your dream vision.
Your $200 proposal fee is credited toward your gown when you book your commissioned gown, making this the first step in bringing your design to life.

Measurements, patternmaking & mockup
Once your proposal is approved and your commissioned gown is booked, we begin the technical work. I'll take your measurements and develop the pattern for your gown, then create a mockup in a comparable fabric to evaluate fit, proportion, and design details before working with your final materials.

Fittings & design refinement
Through a series of fittings, we refine the fit, structure, and finer details of your gown. You'll see the design develop in three dimensions as I adjust the pattern and construction to your body. Depending on your design, we may refine the neckline, sleeve proportions, lace placement, embellishments, and other finishing details. Most brides need 2-3 fittings in this phase of development.

Construction & craftsmanship
With the design and fit taking shape, I construct your gown using the selected materials and techniques suited to its design. From internal structure and precise seam work to delicate finishing and hand-applied details where required, each element is considered as part of the complete garment. Most brides need 2-3 fittings* in this phase including the final fitting.
*Every gown is different. The number and sequence of appointments will depend on your design, fitting needs, and project timeline.

The final reveal
Your final fitting brings everything together. We'll have a grand reveal, with any guests as you wish, with the finished gown. We confirm the fit and finishing details, and make sure you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to wear your custom design couture gown. The accessories designed or selected are also tried on for the full complete wedding day look.
This is the moment your vision becomes real in its entirety.
Understanding your investment
CUSTOM BRIDAL DESIGN
Each gown is individually designed and priced according to its materials, construction, details, and overall complexity. Because every gown is different, there is no single price that applies to every design. A clean, understated silhouette requires a different combination of materials, construction, and labor than a highly structured gown with intricate lacework, extensive embellishment, or multiple custom elements.
Your investment reflects the work of bringing your gown to life: design development, patternmaking, fabric sourcing, construction, fittings, and finishing.

$3500+ is the baseline investment for a custom bridal gown only. This price does not include cost of materials or accessories.

My goal is for you to understand the scope of your gown and the work involved, so you can make an informed decision with confidence.

Your payment schedule will be outlined in your individual proposal and commission agreement. Flexible payment options are available.

What it's like to work together
A collaborative process, guided by expertise.
You bring the vision. I'll help you bring it to life.
You don't need to know how a gown should be constructed, which fabrics will work best, or how every inspiration should come together. That's where my expertise comes in. My role is to listen carefully, interpret your ideas, and guide the design decisions that will help your vision become a beautifully made garment.
Throughout the process, we work together to refine the details while keeping the overall design, fit, and craftsmanship in mind.
What you can expect from me:
Personal attention and thoughtful guidance throughout your custom journey.
Honest feedback about design possibilities, materials, construction, and investment.
Professional recommendations informed by patternmaking, garment construction, and fitting expertise.
Opportunities to see and refine your gown as it develops.
Careful consideration of the details that make the finished design feel like you.
timeline & Planning
Beautiful things take thoughtful planning.
Your wedding date is one of the first things we'll discuss because a well-planned timeline is an important part of the custom experience.
Creating a couture gown involves much more than sewing the finished dress. Time is needed to develop the design, source materials, draft and refine the pattern, create mockups, conduct fittings, construct the gown, and complete the finishing details.
When should you begin?
I recommend reaching out 9–12 months before your wedding to allow time for design development, material sourcing, construction, and fittings. The more time the better.
Beginning early gives us greater flexibility to make considered design decisions and source the materials your gown deserves. More intricate designs or projects involving specialty fabrics and multiple custom pieces may require additional planning.
My availability will depend on your wedding date, the complexity of your design, and my existing atelier schedule. Please inquire as early as possible to discuss whether your date can be accommodated. Shorter timelines may be possible as well.
A note about timing
Your project timeline will be discussed before booking. Material availability, design decisions, fitting needs, and changes to an approved design can affect the schedule. A wedding date alone does not guarantee availability; your project is confirmed only after the required booking arrangements have been completed.

Questions
Have more questions that haven’t been covered? We can talk through them during your complimentary consult call.
-
Not at all. You can arrive with inspiration images, a few favorite details, or simply an idea of how you want to feel on your wedding day. Part of my role is helping you discover the design direction that feels right for you.
-
Inspiration images are a wonderful starting point. We can explore the elements you love and develop an original design that reflects your preferences, proportions, and wedding vision. The final design and price will depend on the specific details and construction involved. I take pride in my design artistry and I care deeply about respecting other artist work. I would never copy a design, but it can serve as a place to start.
-
Absolutely. Your budget is an important part of our initial conversation. I can help identify the design elements that matter most to you and explore ways to prioritize them. The goal is to establish a realistic scope that respects both your vision and your investment.
-
The fee covers the development of your personalized design proposal. If you decide to book your gown, the $200 is credited toward your commission. If you choose not to proceed, the fee covers the proposal work completed.
-
Refinement is part of custom design, particularly during the mockup and fitting stages. It is common to make changes as we move through fittings. Significant changes to an approved design, however, may require additional materials, labor, and time. We'll discuss the implications and any additional costs before proceeding. Remember, communication is crucial during each step of our design process.
-
Yes. I offer custom accessories such as veils, overskirts, capes, detachable sleeves, and other pieces that complement your gown. These can be discussed during the design process and quoted according to your vision.
-
Virtual consultations are available, and remote measurement arrangements may be possible depending on your project. We'll discuss the fitting plan and any limitations before confirming your commission. While it is ideal to fit you in person, virtual fittings are a great alternative.
-
No. The complimentary call is an opportunity to explore whether custom design is the right fit. Your design consultation, proposal, and production booking are separate steps. Your place in the atelier schedule is secured only after the proposal is approved and the required booking payment and agreement are completed.
